Wow am I nervous! I didn’t think I would be this nervous but I seriously cannot concentrate today. I keep picturing myself floundering in the middle of the lake…must think positive, must think positive! The first round of nerves came when I printed out the race details and found I would be in the last wave (since I signed up as a novice) I am fine with this but the worse thing will be the wait! I have about an hour wait before my wave so I know the nervousness will only multiply. Then I opened the course map, I have ridden the bike course a few times and feel quite comfortable with that, the run will just be a surprise which is fine considering that is my strength but then I saw the swim course and got super nervous again. There is a short swim straight out, and turn left and swim probably 500m straight, then turn to the shore. I need to practice breathing on my left side, since the bouys will be on my left I figured this will make the most sense and will probably help with my sighting. Since I was too lazy this morning to get up (remember that whole sleep thing) and it looks as if we have plans tonight, looks like it will be an early but easy swim tomorrow morning. I have an all day Jaycee meeting tomorrow and had hoped to sleep in a tad but looks like it will be a normal early morning for me. Le sigh. Luckily the meeting should keep my mind off of the race for the most part
One thing I did accomplish today (beside work ofcourse!) was creating a menu for the week. Scottie and I are on a spending diet so I am really watching what I spend (I almost cried when I had to buy another pair of goggles this week- I know pathetic) so dinners are using things in the fridge and freezer and also include the same ingredients throughout the week to reduce waste. I also have been inspired by some new recipes I found which also made the menu planning more fun.
Saturday-Dijon and Brown Sugar Salmon on a cedar plank, baked sweet potato, some kind of green veg , dumplings for an appetizer (can’t break the pre-race tradition!)
Sunday-Celebration dinner! Tenderloin Steaks with blue cheese, roasted potatoes, the last of the squash and Mumm!
Monday-Chipotle style pork burritos (pork, lime basmatic rice, black beans, cheese, guacamole)
Tuesday-Pulled pork sammiches, spiced sweet potato fries, broccoli
Wednesday-Black Bean Cakes with salad, baked zucchini
Thursday-Shrimp Po Boy pitas, corn on the cob, green beans
Friday-Make your own pizza…mmm Greek pizza!
